KCB RFC’s head coach, Andrew Amonde, has issued a challenge to the team’s young players ahead of the upcoming Tisap Sevens tournament in Eldoret this weekend.
Due to national team commitments of key players such as Austin Sikutwa, Vincent Onyala, Elvis Olukusi, Samuel Asati, and Festus Shiasi, KCB has had to rely on academy players to fill these positions.
The team has been placed in a pool alongside Mombasa RFC, Blak Blad, and HomeBoyz, a roster that Amonde, the former Shujaa captain, acknowledges will present a considerable challenge for his side. He remarked, “Most of the teams in the group don’t have many players called for national team duty, so it’s an advantage to them. Nonetheless, we are ready for the challenges that lie ahead.”
After securing victory in the Christie Sevens, KCB currently stands second in the circuit standings with 78 points, trailing leaders Kabras by just two points.
Amonde is optimistic that the team can replicate their success from the Christie Sevens in Eldoret this weekend.
Amonde expressed his confidence in the team’s spirit, which comprises a blend of experienced players and young talents.
He believes that their dedication and performance during training indicate that they have the potential to deliver an impressive performance similar to their achievements in Nairobi.
As the Tisap Sevens approach, KCB RFC aims to maintain their momentum and continue their pursuit of success in the rugby circuit.
