In a remarkable display of skill and potential, young racers Neel Gohil and Amaan Ganatra dominated the fourth round of the Shell WKMC Kenya National Autocross Championship at Kasarani’s SSS Racetrack. Their victories over seasoned competitors have marked them as rising stars in the motorsport arena.
Amaan Ganatra, at just 15 years old, achieved a double win in both the 2WD Non-Turbo Car and 4WD Turbo classes, driving a RunX and an Evolution 9, respectively.
In the 4WD Turbo Class, he outperformed African rally junior champion Hamza Anwar and former 2WD Rally Champion Eric Bengi, who finished second and third. Anwar, despite not winning, managed to set the Fastest Time of the Day (FTD) in the third heat.
Cheche Ababu, the son of Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba, triumphed in the Junior Two Wheel Drive Non-Turbo Class, leaving Gitau Munene and Muaaz Adil trailing.
Neel Gohil showcased his prowess by winning the Open Class in a Subaru, which he plans to enhance for future competitiveness. He also secured the FTD in the second heat, finishing the day with an impressive cumulative time.
Expressing gratitude for the support and sponsorship from Shell and Vivo energies, Gohil dedicated his win to the team behind him and looked forward to further improvements to his vehicle.
In the Open Class, Shajad Khan took second place, followed by Clement Marini, Murage Waigwa, Ishmail Azeli, and Safina Khan, with Kadivane finishing 13th overall after facing mechanical issues.
Shabaz Anwar, continuing the legacy of his father, Azar Anwar, emerged victorious in the Quad Bike Class, defeating former champion Wayne Fernandes.
The event, which was a testament to the burgeoning talent in Kenyan motorsports, was organized by the Western Kenya Motor Club and supported by sponsors including Shell, Going Outdoor, and JCB Ganatra.
