Zetech Sparks secured a decisive 52-21 victory over the USIU Flames in the Kenya women’s basketball league match in a thrilling display of skill and teamwork.

The win marks their 12th consecutive unbeaten game, placing them just one point shy of the league leaders, USIU, who still hold the top spot despite the loss.

Coach Maurice Obilo praised his team’s performance, acknowledging the formidable challenge posed by the Flames, the defending division one champions. Obilo emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and continuing to refine their strategies, particularly on offense and individual defense.

Despite the departure of five key players to top clubs, Obilo remains confident in his team’s potential and their journey ahead.

In other league news, the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), the reigning champions, enjoyed an ‘easy’ win against the UON Dynamites, with a score of 89-24.

KPA’s coach Anthony Ojukwu acknowledged the Dynamites’ effort but noted the comfortable margin of victory for his team. This win extends KPA’s unbeaten streak to 11 matches, positioning them third in the league standings.

The Dynamites, on the other hand, find themselves second to last after 12 matches, with only two wins to their name.

The weekend’s results also saw close contests and dominant performances across the board, with teams like Storms, Umoja, City Thunder, and KPA showcasing their prowess, while the USIU Tigers claimed a win against Umoja in a 64-43 match.
