Zimbabwe’s junior Sables delivered a resounding 64-10 victory over Kenya’s Chipu in the fifth-place play-off in a dominant display at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday. The match marked the end of an underwhelming campaign for the Kenyan team, while Zimbabwe clinched the fifth position.

Zimbabwe set the tone right from the start, swiftly establishing its authority over its Kenyan counterparts. In the opening twenty minutes, they managed to score three quick converted tries, taking a commanding 21-0 lead.

Adding to Kenya’s woes, Brian Oduor was sin-binned for a poor tackle, giving Zimbabwe an extra advantage, which they capitalized on to score two more tries before halftime. The scores stood at 33-0 at the break.

The junior Sables continued their dominance in the second half, with Simbarashe Kanyagarara scoring early on. Kenya finally got on the scoreboard in the 54th minute, as Faran Juma successfully landed a drop goal for three points.

Though James Tsinalo’s try provided some consolation for the home crowd, Zimbabwe maintained their control, ultimately emerging victorious with a convincing 64-10 scoreline.
