Former Kenyan Premier League (KPL) teams made a strong statement during the second round of the Sakaja Super Cup over the weekend.
Hakati Sportiff and Black Mamba displayed their authority with impressive victories in their respective matches in the Makadara sub-county.
Hakati Sportiff, eager to bounce back from their previous loss to Jericho All Stars, secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over 11 Stars at the Canon Apollo ground in Mbotela estate. Peter Musa netted a brace, and Zidane Ochieng added another goal for the former Premier League side, while Kefa Kereu and Harid Imboyoka responded with goals for 11 Stars.
However, Jericho All Stars, who had previously triumphed over Hakati Sportiff, fell short in their match against Michezo Halisi, losing 2-1.
In another exciting match featuring former Premier League side Black Mamba, they convincingly defeated Rada Sports 3-1 at Makongeni grounds. Oduor Chrisphine, Sisia Tom, and Jay Mackenzi found the net for Black Mamba, while Stephen Nenya scored Rada’s lone consolation goal.
The competition further witnessed Kariobangi FC, B 13, and Pan African University securing their second consecutive victories.
Kariobangi FC managed a tight 1-0 win against Dandora All Stars in Embakasi North, while B-13 triumphed with an identical scoreline against Melta Kabiria. Pan African University emerged victorious with a 3-1 win against Chapel Field FC in Roysambu.
In Starehe, Country Bus, the boyhood club of former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama, battled Ziwani All-Stars to a thrilling 3-3 draw at Landi Mawe grounds.
In Roysambu, Zimmerman United and City Lions played to a 1-1 draw at Mahiga Primary School. Aslam Munene gave the Lions the lead in the 8th minute, while Benson equalized in the 25th minute, resulting in a stalemate.
In Kasarani, Maaji secured a 2-0 win against Wolfsburg, with goals coming from David Iranzi and Dennis Kiarie at Muhuri Muchiri grounds in Njiru. In another fixture, Clay City narrowly defeated Kasarani FC 2-1.
Makadara saw Buruburu Sport securing a 1-0 victory over MASA Academy, with Kelvin Mutiso scoring the lone goal in the 20th minute. Bahati All Stars received an easy walkover win when their opponents, Mukuru Sports FC, failed to show up for the match.
JASA Academy beat Maringo All Stars 2-1, and Derrick Odumba scored a hat-trick for Makadara Youth FC in their 3-0 victory over Elite Sports.
In Embakasi South, FC Barca and Shofco played to a 1-1 draw at Vision grounds. Shofco took the lead through Brian Opwaka in the 23rd minute, while Anthony Onyango scored the equalizer in the 70th minute.
Finally, Legends and Reuben played to a 2-2 draw at Vision grounds. Christopher Milo was on the mark for Legend’s lead, netting a goal in the 6th minute and another in the 83rd minute. Reuben responded with goals from Kelvin Wafula and Faisal Mwaro.

The third round of the Sakaja Super Cup matches is scheduled for November 1-2, followed by the fourth round on November 4-5. The final round will take place on November 8.
