AFC Leopards secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Kenya Police FC in the FKF Premier League’s midweek clash at Dandora Stadium, thanks to a second-half goal from substitute Victor Omune.
Omune’s powerful shot proved too much for goalkeeper Patrick Matasi, leading to the only goal of the match.
The game was evenly matched until Omune’s intervention, with both sides creating opportunities to score. Kenya Police FC’s Clinton Kinanga nearly took the lead, but Leopards’ goalkeeper Levis Opiyo was alert to thwart the threat. Bonface Munyendo’s attempt for Leopards also came close in the first half.
The strategic substitution by coach Thomas Trucha, bringing on Omune and Victor Otieno, paid off in the 73rd minute when Omune’s strike gave Leopards the lead. Despite a late free-kick attempt by Kenya Police FC, the match ended in favor of AFC Leopards, marking the first defeat of the season for the law enforcers under coach Salim Babu.
In other matches, Nairobi City Stars staged a remarkable comeback to draw 2-2 with Tusker FC after being two goals down at halftime.
Sofapaka FC boosted their chances of avoiding relegation with a 2-1 win over Posta Rangers, while Kakamega Homeboyz inflicted a critical blow to Nzoia Sugar’s survival hopes with a 1-0 win.
The relegation battle saw Shabana and Talanta FC draw 1-1, Muhoroni Youth and Bandari FC end goalless, and Murang’a Seal and Kariobangi Sharks also finish without scoring. Ulinzi Stars managed a crucial 1-0 win over Bidco United in their fight against relegation.
