Harambee Starlets under-18 coach Beldine Odemba has revealed the provisional squad that will represent Kenya in the upcoming women’s Cecafa Championships.
The 44-member squad comprises talented players from high schools and select Women’s League teams who meet the age criteria for the tournament.
The junior Starlets will gather in Nairobi for an intensive training camp, commencing on June 24, as they fine-tune their preparations for the regional competition. Odemba expressed her confidence in the young players and emphasized the significance of the under-18 tournament in providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and abilities.
Leading the pack is Fasila Adhiambo, the prolific attacking sensation from Ulinzi Starlets. Since joining the team midway through the recently concluded league season, Adhiambo has displayed outstanding form and is expected to make a significant impact on the squad’s performance.
The provisional squad features a well-rounded mix of talent, with notable goalkeepers including Christine Omolo from Butere Girls, Scoria Awuor from Kobala Secondary, Terry Okova from Mogunga Girls, Velma Auma from Wiyeta Girls, and Shihafu Askonotia from Dagoretti Mixed.
In defence, the team boasts skilled players such as Robai Nelma from Lwandeti D.E.B, Vidah Okeyo and Judith Okumu from Butere Girls, Dorcas Glenda from Butere Girls, Beryl Achieng from Magunga Secondary, and more.
The midfield will be marshalled by Rebecca Kwoba from Soccer Assassins FC, Jane Hato from Madira Girls, Lorna Faith from Butere Girls, and other talented individuals who will bring their creativity and vision to the game.
The forward line will feature the likes of Mollviine Achieng Owour from Kobala Secondary, Elizabeth Mideva from Bishop Njenga, and the impressive Fasila Adhiambo from Ulinzi Starlets FC, among others, who will strive to make a significant impact in the attacking third.
