Reigning champions Gor Mahia and former champions Tusker FC were both held to draws by KCB and Ulinzi Stars, respectively, in the FKF Premier League midweek matches on Wednesday.
Gor Mahia, aiming for their third consecutive win of the season, were forced to settle for a goalless draw against league leaders KCB at Dandora Stadium. Meanwhile, Tusker played out a 1-1 stalemate against Ulinzi Stars at the Police Sacco Stadium.
The draw allowed the unbeaten KCB to remain at the top of the table with 14 points after six matches, continuing their strong start to the 2024/2025 season. Gor Mahia sit in eighth place with seven points, having played three fewer matches due to their delayed season start caused by continental commitments.
Tusker missed the opportunity to break into the top four as Moses Kaafero’s 48th-minute equalizer for Ulinzi Stars canceled out Charles Momanyi’s first-half goal, leaving both teams to share the spoils. Tusker now holds fifth place with nine points from six matches, while Ulinzi Stars remain 16th with three points, still winless after five games.
In other midweek action, a second-half goal from Humphrey Obina handed Murang’a SEAL a 1-0 victory over AFC Leopards at St. Sebastian Park Arena. The loss saw fourth-placed AFC Leopards fail to close the gap on KCB, remaining four points behind the league leaders.
Elsewhere, at Police Sacco Stadium, Police FC claimed their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Mathare United, marking a positive start to their delayed campaign.
At the bottom of the table, City Stars continued to struggle as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Kakamega Homeboyz, who bounced back after two consecutive losses.
Bandari FC were unable to break into the top four, drawing 0-0 with Talanta FC at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Meanwhile, second-placed Kariobangi Sharks suffered a 1-0 defeat to Bidco United at St. Sebastian Park in Murang’a.
