Ishan Samani emerged as the winner of the boys’ category at the fifth leg of the US Kids Golf Spring Local Tour held at Thika Sports Club over the weekend.
The tournament drew 140 junior golfers aged between five and 18, who competed over 18 holes. Samani secured the title while Kushagra Sharma came in second with 89 gross, followed by Kiunjuri Mathu in third place with 90 gross.
Shashwat Harish won the 13-14-year-old category with 76 gross, with Tsevi Soni coming in second with 80 gross and Ronan Patel in third place with 84 gross.
In the 12-year-old age group, Andrew Gathere took first place with 74 gross, followed by Tsorav Soni with 76 gross and Justin Ngeera with 81 gross.
In the boys’ categories for those who played nine holes, Gitonga Gitobu won the 10-year-old category with 39 gross, Adam Nesbitt emerged as the winner in the nine-year-old age group with 41 gross, Jeff Kibe won the eight-year-old age group with 43 gross, Ivan Kipyegon Kimutai finished top among the seven-year-olds with 41 gross, while Trevvy Mungai was the winner in the six years and under with 41 gross.
In the girls’ categories for those who played 18 holes, Antonia Mbuthia beat Cherise Wachira in the girls’ 15-18-year-old category on countback after both scored 93 gross over 18 holes. Hazel Kuria finished third with 104 gross.
In the 13-14-year-old age group, Navya Nagda and Cherono Kipkorir scored 87 gross each, but Nagda was declared the winner on countback. Yolanda Yu emerged in third place with 93 gross.
Marya Nyambura secured first place among the 11-12-year-olds with 88 gross, followed by Sophia Nesbitt with 93 gross and Jewel Kaisha with 94 gross.
