Kenya is set to make a significant stride in the realm of sports by hosting the prestigious 40th Secretaries General Seminar for Members of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and the Olympic Solidarity Forum on Finance.
These events are scheduled for October 31st to November 2nd and November 4th to 5th, respectively, at the Sarova Whitesands Hotel in Mombasa.
Speaking during the pre-event launch, the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K), Francis Mutuku, expressed the honour of hosting these distinguished events. The seminars will convene notable guests, including the President of ANOCA, its Executive Members, and key figures associated with the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Mutuku emphasized the significance of this opportunity for Kenya’s sports sector, stating, “The rise of Kenya’s sports sector is undeniable, and this unparalleled opportunity to host the 40th Secretaries General Seminar and the Olympic Solidarity Forum on Finance signifies a watershed moment in our journey.”
He continued to highlight the benefits and opportunities these events present, including the chance for direct engagement with the Paris 2024 organizing team.
Furthermore, Shadrack Maluki, the 1st Deputy President of NOC-K, echoed these sentiments and emphasized the positive impact on other sectors. “They will be able to interact with quite a number of federations here in Kenya. So it is a good thing that is happening here in our country. Secondly, it is going to bring about tourism. They are coming to our country and there is an element about showcasing our country and really showing them what Kenya is all about.”
Kenya’s successful bid to host these events underscores its growing presence in the international sporting arena, following recent successes such as co-hosting AFCON 2027 with Uganda and Tanzania and hosting CHAN 2024.
