The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) handball teams have commenced their preparations for the upcoming Kenya Handball Federation Super Cup scheduled for next month.
The tournament winners in both categories will represent Kenya in the Africa show in Tunisia.
Coach Bryan Mathews expressed his confidence in his teams, stating that they are training hard to achieve the best results. He acknowledged the strength of their opponents and anticipates competitive matches.
The two-week tournament will commence on May 13 at Nyayo National Stadium and feature six top men’s teams and four leading women’s sides. NCPB, the reigning men’s league champions, are in Group ‘A’ alongside third-placed General Service Unit and fifth-placed Black Mamba.
Meanwhile, league runners-up Ulinzi will face off against Strathmore University, who finished fourth, and Kenyatta University, who placed sixth in Pool.
In the women’s category, Nairobi Water Queens, who won the championship without losing a single game, are the team to beat.
They will be facing off against the runner-up Ulinzi Sharks, who are equally strong. The other two top teams are NCPB, who finished third, and Bungoma-based Rangers, who placed fourth.
The Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) confirmed that the teams will have a few weeks break before the start of the 2023 season.
