Elaine Thompson-Herah, the five-time Olympic champion, ended her coaching partnership with Shanikie Osbourne just eight months before her bid to defend her sprint titles at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The decision, as stated by Thompson-Herah’s management team, was prompted by the “extremely excessive” terms proposed by the coach.
Thompson-Herah, who secured gold in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m at Tokyo 2020 after triumphing in the same events at Rio 2016, currently stands as the second-fastest woman in history over 100m.
The parting of ways with Osbourne has led Thompson-Herah to explore new coaching arrangements as she gears up for the upcoming season and focuses on preparing for the defence of her Olympic titles at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Despite her remarkable success at the last two Olympic Games, Thompson-Herah faced challenges in the recent season, missing qualification for the World Championships in Budapest due to injuries.
With the 2024 Olympics on the horizon, Thompson-Herah is committed to her preparations, seeking a fresh coaching perspective to navigate the path towards another Olympic triumph.
