Paris Saint-Germain has successfully secured the services of French striker Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt on transfer deadline day in Europe.
The 24-year-old forward, originally from the Paris suburbs, signed a five-year contract with PSG at the Parc des Princes. The deal, reported to be worth €90 million ($97 million), was confirmed by the Ligue 1 champions shortly after the transfer window closed.
Kolo Muani had been a prime target for PSG throughout the summer, and his desire to transfer to another club became evident when he missed training with Frankfurt earlier in the week.
Despite Eintracht Frankfurt initially rejecting PSG’s proposals for the player, a deal was ultimately reached to bring him to Paris.
The acquisition of Kolo Muani adds to PSG’s considerable investment in new signings this transfer window, amounting to around €350 million.
PSG’s ambitions to strengthen their squad have been evident, with Bradley Barcola from Lyon among their other late signings.
This transfer window has seen significant moves across European football, including Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga record signing of Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid’s acquisition of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund for €103 million.
In addition to these, Barcelona secured the loan signings of Portugal duo Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo from Atletico Madrid and Manchester City, respectively.
However, the football landscape has been influenced by the Saudi Pro League’s increasing financial power, with Al-Hilal of Riyadh reportedly paying PSG €100 million for Neymar.
Several other prominent players, such as Otavio and Fabinho, have also made moves to Saudi clubs, signalling a growing shift in the football transfer market.
While the traditional European leagues have been dominant in attracting top talent, the arrival of younger players like Gabri Veiga, aged 21, at Saudi clubs underscores the changing dynamics in football transfers.
More significant moves between Europe and Saudi Arabia may occur, as the transfer window in Saudi Arabia remains open until September 20, as per FIFA regulations.
