The NBA has reached a remarkable milestone for the 2024-25 season, showcasing a record-tying 17 players from Africa among 125 international players across 43 countries.
This includes an impressive five players from Cameroon, highlighted by the presence of 2022-23 MVP Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers.
In addition to these players, over 35 individuals with at least one parent from Africa are making their mark in the league. Notable names include three-time All-Star Bam Adebayo, who has Nigerian roots, and two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, whose ties are also to Nigeria, along with the rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama, linked to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
For the fourth consecutive season, opening-night rosters will feature at least 120 international players, with all 30 NBA teams including at least one. Canada leads as the most-represented country outside the U.S. with 21 players, followed by France, Australia, Germany, and Serbia.
