The national men’s volleyball team, also known as “Wafalme,” kicked off their campaign at the Africa Men’s Volleyball Championships with a 3-1 loss to Cameroon on Monday night in Cairo, Egypt.
Under the guidance of Coach Gideon Tarus, the Kenyan team faced a challenging start, losing the first set 25-22, followed by a 25-20 loss in the subsequent set.
However, Wafalme displayed resilience in the third set, clinching a 26-24 victory and extending the match to one more set.
Regrettably, their newfound momentum waned in the deciding set, as the West African giants secured a 25-17 win.
In their upcoming match, Wafalme will compete against Libya on Tuesday evening at the same venue. Libya began their continental campaign with a 3-1 triumph over Ghana.
In other matches on the same day, Morocco achieved a convincing victory over Rwanda in straight sets, while Tunisia defeated Mali with the same scoreline.
